Hi, I’m Andrea!

I came to knitwear design out of my interest in making beautiful and functional objects out of ethically sourced natural material - in a world so filled with factory made objects and plastic.

I strive to make designs that knitters will love to make, and most importantly, love to wear.

In spring of 2023 I moved to Asheville, NC where I currently live with my partner, right along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I absolutely love all things nature, including hiking, swimming, foraging, and learning about plants, animals, and my environment. My other interests include reading, playing board games (especially cooperative ones!), and checking out local breweries. I spent several years working on organic farms and I’m working towards one day starting a small homestead with my partner.

It’s critical to me in creating my own small business as a designer that my work be rooted in my core values.

My Values

Sustainability

My work is fundamentally rooted in the slow fashion movement. I seek to create thoughtful and practical designs that knitters can use in making their own clothing just right for them - in opposition to the ethos of fast fashion.

I prioritize supporting & promoting yarn companies and independent dyers committed to ethical sourcing and sustainable practices.

Creating this design business is a step in my own personal journey towards living sustainably: a means of supporting myself financially through work in line with my personal values.

Inclusivity

I work to ensure my designs are inclusive to all, and a key part of this is size inclusivity. All of my designs are graded to fit up to a 62” (157 cm) bust, or larger.

My test knits are held over longer than average periods of time to ensure test knitters of all sizes have adequate time to comfortably complete their test knit. For each of my self-published designs, I work with a knowledgeable tech editor & wonderful test knitters to ensure a great fit across the size range, and I am continuously working to further refine my grading skills.

Social Justice

I believe fundamentally in the right for all to have equal access to wealth, opportunities, and privileges within society. Our current world is far from this picture, and I strive to take the actions that I am able to as an individual and small business owner to dismantle the systems of oppression we live within.

For me, this entails continuous self education on topics including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and ableism and a commitment to examining my own words and actions. I also pledge to uplift and support those from marginalized groups & to donate a portion of my profits directly to organizations working on dismantling systemic oppression.
